    Brief history of Wat Saddhadhamma
    Address: 8000 FM 1518
    Schertz, TX 78154

Our established temple is called Wat Saddhadhamma. A Wat is significantly another name for the temple which is located in city of Schertz and state of Texas.
Wat Saddhadhamma was established in 1st November 1995 by group of Buddhist people who live in San Antonio and some people in USA. The main founders of this temple consist of Colon E. Scott, Jerry Green, Kamprem Brougham and Boonpheng Soulivanh. There are four Buddhist monks namely:

    1. Phramaha Somsak Tagrudthong
    2. Dr. Phrammaha Win Tonklan
    3. Dr. Monkol Yodthpong
    4. Phramaha Punya Singthong

Phramaha Somsak Tagrudthong was selected as the abbot of the temple who carries out of the organization. We bought 5.8 acres of land which is located in 8000 FM 1518, city of Schertz, Texas 78154 which is physical address of our temple up to now. At the beginning, we bought the land but no building to perform religious activities. Therefore we have to rent the house for the monks to stay for a while. Then we lived at 7606 Sak Oak, Live Oak Texas 78233 temporally for some years.
We are having about 350 active members who support our temple. By dated May 19, 1995 we are recognized as non profit organization or incorporation by the State of Texas named Wat Saddhadhamma Buddhist 1518 Temple.
In 1997, we moved from 7606 Sak Oak, Live Oak Texas 78233 to 8000 FM 1518, and Schertz 78154 Texas after the building has been built up. It becomes our permanent place of worship for Buddhist people.
With regarding to some documents of the temple which might be different from permanent address, it is because at first time we do not have permanent resident. Yet we bought the 5.8 acres of land but there is no building to perform the religious activities and we have to apply some documents to be lawful organization to the State of Texas in temporally address.

The objects of this temple shall be:

    1. To propagate the Buddha’s teaching
    2. To promote and support charitable activities
    3. To unite Buddhists for religious and charitable activities
    4. To provide for the support and maintenance of the resident members of the Buddhist monkshood
    5. Other charitable and religious services

Now a day, we are four monks together:

    1. Dr.Phramaha Win Tonklan
    2. Phramaha Sawai Sangharaksa
    3. Phramaha Thongkoon Jaidee
    4. Phra Pramot Permpol

Currently Dr.PhramahaWin Tonklan is the abbot of the temple. Now we have permanent resident for worship and members are increasing day by day.        Services are held daily in the temple at 8:00 a.m. up
to 9:00 p.m. The public is welcome to participate in the function. Other religious ceremonies are held in connection with the Buddhist religious hold days throughout the year.
These services mostly occur on Saturday and Sunday, as close to the actual date of the Holy Day as possible. These services consist of processions, offerings to the monk, prayers, chanting, and symbolic gestures.
In addition, other service on an intermittent basis consist of classes for teaching Buddha,  meditation, and service off the temple’s premise at the request of individual,  such as for weddings, funerals and house blessing ceremonies and so on. These services are performed by the monks.
The number of members increases day by day and we need the monk to carry out the above described service for Wat Saddhadhamma.

    Yours faithfully,

    Dr. Phramaha Win Tonklan
    Abbot of Wat Saddhadhamma
